ABOUT US

What is the Order of the Eastern Star?

It is the largest Fraternal Organization in the world to which both women and men can belong.

What are the requirements to join?

Women with specific Masonic affiliation and men who are Master Masons are eligible. A petitioner must be of good moral character, believe in a Supreme Being (all faiths welcome), and have attained the age of 18.

What Masonic affiliation is required for women?

A woman must be a relative by birth, marriage or adoption to a Master Mason in good standing or, if deceased, in good standing at the time of his death.  Also eligible are members of Job’s Daughters International or International Order of the Rainbow for Girls who are eighteen years old and have either been active members for at least three years or have reached majority.

What is the basis of Eastern Star?

The Degrees of the Eastern Star are based on the lives of five Biblical women – Adah, Ruth, Esther, Martha, and Electa. Each of these Biblical heroines stands for one of the tenets of the Order. They are Fidelity, Constancy, Loyalty, Faith and Love.

Initiatory degrees are offered four times each year on the weekend, and we have a celebratory event in connection with the initiation.

We started our Chapter to welcome a new generation of members to the Order of the Eastern Star. Our Chapter provides the flexibility you need in your hectic schedule, while providing an environment for you to search for deeper meaning, through the symbolism of our Order, and to support the community, through our community service projects.

Our Chapter meets once a month (the first Friday, unless the first Friday is a religious or state holiday) to conduct the business of the Chapter. After our meetings, we have dinner and a discussion, which is infused with educational programming. Initiatory degrees are offered four times each year on a weekend evening, after which, we have a formal dinner and dance to celebrate.

We value our history! We want to return to the principles of our Order through a streamlined format. We value our families! We want a place where men and women can share their fraternal commitment. We value your time! Our monthly meetings will not exceed one hour. We will have child care available at every event. We will listen to your ideas.

VISION STATEMENT

We are a philosophical family of Sisters and Brothers who have been transformed by our initiation into the Order of the Eastern Star. True to our Masonic heritage, we are banded together for self-improvement, social enjoyment and service. Through our Ritual and sharing our individual understandings of its Masonic principles, we learn more about ourselves and our relationship with our Creator and each other, each choosing from what we have learned and shared to make life more complete and fulfilling. We are a diverse group from many faiths and heritages, loving one another for who we are. This love extends beyond our Masonic family as we work also for the betterment of our communities. We enjoy one another’s company, not only at chapter meetings but also in our homes and in our community work. We are Dr. Rob Morris Chapter. â€‹
